Power of Nrf2

There are currently over 2300 articles (peer reviewed clinical reviews and studies) on Pubmed.gov on the topic of Nrf2 Activation.

The Nrf2 pathway has been referred to as the "master regulator of antioxidant, detoxification and cell defence gene expression…” and it is for these reasons that so much research has been carried out trying to explore how maintaining this life-sustaining pathway may have critically important applications for our health and longevity. Since the Nrf2 protein remains dormant in a cell until it is activated by a Nrf2 activator. The challenge is to determine what activates Nrf2 to take advantage of the one to one million free radical neutralisation?

What is the best approach?

A better approach to fighting free radicals is to use the body’s own self defence mechanism. When Nrf2 is activated in the nucleus, it support's the production of antioxidant enzymes such as Catalase, Glutathione and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD). These antioxidant enzymes are powerful enough to neutralise up to one million free radicals per second, every second. These one to one million ratios prove to be a far more effective approach in combating cellular damage defence mechanism.

A very accepted method of maintaining Nrf2 is via consuming more Sulforaphane yielding foods or supplements...like New Zealand Scientific's whole enzyme broccoli sprout powder with a certified Sulforaphane Yield.
